Your image stays with you

The local image is only for the preview; Morf does not send it anywhere. You provide the URL of the final image used for sharing.

  • The uploaded image only appears in your browser; Morf does not upload or store it.
  • The meta tag code is generated directly in your browser, and only goes elsewhere if you copy it.
  • For an actual share image, you need to provide the URL of your own, publicly accessible image.
  • No registration, ads, or daily check limit.

Getting the share preview right

About the title, description, Open Graph image, and per-page meta data.

Why does every page need its own title, description, and image?

The share preview decides what someone sees before they open the link. If every page uses the same generic title, description, and image, the specific content is less clear and the link is less clickable. Important landing pages, articles, products, and tool pages should each get their own meta data.

What size should the Open Graph image be?

A safe starting point is 1200 × 630 pixels, at a 1.91:1 aspect ratio. Use a sharp, readable image, and don't put important text or details right at the edges. Different platforms may crop slightly differently.

Why does the image need a public URL?

Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and other sharing services download the image from the URL given in the meta tag. A file dropped into the designer is only a local preview, which an external service cannot reach. The finished image needs to already be uploaded to your own website or CDN.

When does the share preview update?

The new meta tags take effect on your site immediately, but social platforms may show an older preview from their cache. After publishing, it's worth re-fetching the URL in that platform's share debugging tool.

Is the Open Graph checker free and ad-free?

Yes. Morf's Open Graph checker works without registration or ads, with no daily URL check limit. The local image preview stays in your browser; you're the only one who chooses which website URL to check.
